Training Package Requirements – Regional Level
The WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition in VETiS Information Technology aligns to the Units of Competency contained in the ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology Qualification.
Regional Competition
The Regional competition is designed to evaluate Competitors’ ability to develop ICT solutions to problems faced by public and commercial organisations. The competition is based on a real organisation however the scenario is fictional.
The skills and knowledge required include but are not limited to some of the following
• Prepare to produce user documentation
• Produce user documentation
• Review user documentation and obtain sign-off
• Finalise user documentation creation procedures
• Prepare to operate software packages
• Use appropriate word-processing software
• Use appropriate spreadsheet software
• Use a third application software package
• Develop a questioning mind-set
• Generate ideas and responses
• Challenge, test and re-invent ideas
• Enhance creative thinking skills
• Establish application task
• Apply language syntax and layout
• Apply control structures
• Code using standard programming algorithms
• Test code

Regionals Competition Duration
The competition time is 4.5 hours over 1 day not including breaks or briefing.
