A bricklayer constructs and repairs structures using bricks, blocks, and mortar, ensuring durability, alignment, and structural integrity.

Bricklayers work with clay and concrete masonry products to construct brickwork and blockwork. A Bricklayer’s scope of work ranges from residential to commercial, from straight walls to ornamental walls, and from structural to non-load bearing walls. Bricklayers work in various conditions, both inside and outside, and may work as an individual or as a member of a team.

The WorldSkills Australia Bricklaying Competition Projects will be constructed of clay bricks and concrete masonry blocks. Competitors will be provided with drawings for details and specifications.

YOU SHOULD PURSUE A CAREER IN BRICKLAYING IF YOU:

  • Have an interest in working with tools and materials
  • Prefer physically active work
  • Enjoy working outdoors
